I know it’s been a while since i’ve dropped by a with a new post and for the now that’s no worries.  Snow is forecast this week this side of the coil in the UK as England take on Pakistan for the second test match in the United Arab Emirates.

Chris Tremlett is on is way home from the sun and The Captain is ‘eager to set an example‘ in Abu Dhabi, i wonder will Monty be back in England colours this week?

Anyways, whilst i wait for the game to start and catch up with the who, what & where via Test Match Special, Twitter and elsewhere it’s probably fair to check up on the squads like i’ve said before it’s been a while!

A semi-final spot is up for grabs against New Zealand on Tuesday 29th March as Andrew Strauss has won the toss choose to bat. England v Sri Lanka in the World Cup Quarter Finals at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The pressure is building and has taken its toll in many different ways on the squad as they prepare for the quarter final match in Colombo. “We are here to win World Cup” that’s The Team Mantra which has been been blasting loud and clear for months now and with a massive home crowd guaranteed Sri Lanka stand in England’s way in achieving world cup glory for the very first time.

It’s taken a while to get to the quarter final stages of this ‘ere competition and the quest continues for England.  The roller coaster of a ride is back on when Saturday comes, hold on to thy hats.

Andrew Strauss says the juices are flowing ’bout England v West Indies! It’s their final match in Group B at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, India and a win is needed to keep the quest alive and progress into the quarter final stage, though that does depends on result at the weekend in the final few matches of the group.

A great deal is at stake in the England v West Indies match. It’s England’s last chance to do what they do and keep group B interesting right down to the wire on sunday. That there fat lady will be warbling away never mind twittering in the back ground should results not go England’s way on the weekend.

The bugs have gone and the temper tantrums have been sorted about the “ludicrous” conditions. A fine imposed and now it’s time to chill.

Only one result will do for England today and then ’tis a waiting game for a couple of days. Should Bangladesh turn over South Africa on Saturday and West Indies beat India on Sunday, well that’s a nightmare for tha future.


Group A is already done and dusted as far as qualifications go for the quarter finals with all the usual suspect going through as anticipated months back.

Andrew Strauss has been keeping mum in the build up to the game ’bout the team format as the quest for world cup glory continues. England play Bangladesh in there penultimate game of group B at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Chittagong.

The Team Director says that the Kevin Pietersen had little choice to catch an early flight home; others may have suggested that it was a pain-management issue whilst Stuart Broad tells us about his injury.  Though the Captain may be keeping tight lipped ’bout the team prior to the start of the game, there’s no still no stopping the Team Mantra.

A win today against Bangladesh will secure England’s quarter final spot and then it’s best part of a week’s break till their final group B match against West Indies who are currently playing Ireland in Mohali about where the Bangladesh captains say’s the Mirpur incidents won’t affect Bangladesh as they are placed under orders not to write in the press.

Once again Radio T’internet is chooned in and this time it’s the Tigers turn to have a go.

You’ll have noticed that the cricket world cup has been rumbling on at break neck speed with just over three weeks remaining, we’re all but half way through and Sri Lanka have already secured a place in the quarter finals. Today’s matches should add a couple more to that quarter final line up.

It’s another daft o’clock start this side of the coil as England play South Africa in Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium

Their Quest to win the world cup and pocket the brass is still on, so far I ain’t seen the writing on the wall or heard the fat lady warm up, never mind sing. So it’s all systems go in the group stages of week two, then again it could be the start of week three, i suppose that’s a mute point really.

An England win and they’ll go to the top of Group B above South Africa for the now and that’s how me and the girls like it.

Can England restore some pride they say.  I’m not going to make any excuses but the fielding has let us down at times with more than a couple of dropped catches and that’s just one of those things that could be looked at, but when you think that qualifying for the quarter finals is the first goal in the world cup quest a win today should ease the stress from the press.

The Mantra is still blasting as louder as it ever was and so it’s all systems go for England at the moment. South Africa have played a couple and fair play they’ve won ‘em both pretty convincingly and there’s no way that the Proteas will take England lightly. South Africa won’t sit back and take it easy as they are out to win the cup for themselves so bring it on.

Here we go again for the next thrilling adventure that is England’s Quest for glory and greatness. From what I’ve heard the scalpers are quite literally out in force and the locals aren’t enjoying the crack from their own police,  a few of whom seem to be allegedly making a few bob from those fans so desperate to see a once in a life time match. No doubt there’s so much more going on that’s not hit the headlines yet and i can’t believe that it’s taking 3 hours plus to get into the ground to watch a ODI, what’s going on with the game recently?

Mind you do those upstairs really care about the fans at the end of the day it’s been said loads by those whom know much more than I. What sense is there of taking food off people who are going to watch a full days cricket talk about daft and could you imagine the police at Old Trafford, Headingley or Edgbaston trying to hit any of the fans going into the ground, beggars belief does does.

Any way’s enough of the that for the now, I’m miles away tucked up with the girls and so far it seems like a the World Cup has been a public relations disaster all round from the get go for some. I suppose that all depends on which view point you take, after all there’s millions up for grabs for the winners and you’ve gotta say that the last England game was right on and down to the wire to boot, quite literally in fact, who knows what the next twist in the story line will be in the saga that is the cricket world cup.

England are well on the way against India in their second match of the Cricket World Cup, Andrew Strauss lost the toss and India elected to bat first in front of a packed house at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, India.

The England Mantra came out once again from Stuart Broad and that’s how it should be as Andrew Strauss suggested early on in the wind up to the World Cup expectations are high “We’re here to win it, and we feel like we’ve got an excellent chance.”

The scores seem to be getting higher and higher as the years go by with regards to a match winning total.  India smashed a massive score of 338 and now it’s down to England to do the honours. Get off to a steady start and jobs a good ‘un.

The radio commentary is on for the next few hours and it sounds like it’s a familiar story from the commentary that the fans are secondary to the TV which is a shame and what’s that all about? That’s sort of lost on me not having a TV at all, so it’s time to bring it on and hope that the openers manage a partnership on their way to win the game.

England’s World Cup campaign got underway against the Netherlands at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, India on Tuesday.

It’s almost a week into the competition and the scribes are well into discussing this, that or the other with many having similar gripes or misgivings. In a nutshell is the World Cup to long in it’s current format and does it have a future?

It’s been suggested that the next six weeks it’s the cup that counts and if you listen to the hype, India will be shutting down for a while. Though there seemed to be a fair few empty seats in quite a few of the recent matches as well as the England v Netherlands game.

Money is the obvious reason for length of the cup that’s for sure and just maybe that will be the straw in the future. Though to be honest that’s a moan that has been going on for years and no doubt for many more to come.

Changes are on there way regarding the format of the 2015 cup and a few of the minnows are not best pleased about that, one can somewhat understand there gripe to a point.

England have their first couple of World Cup points in the bag and though the game may not have been pretty, it’s the winning that counts at the end of the day and that’s job done and time for the in house discussions to continue and move on to Bangalore for Sunday’s game against India.  Where angry crowds clash with the police in the run up to the game.

After months of waiting, weeks of debating and hours of cogitating the 10th World Cup is underway with India v Bangladesh in Dhaka.

No doubt the Twitter brigade will have a great deal to say over the coming months on the who did what to whom, where and when will this ever? The free twitter paper The Cricket World Cup will be updated in a couple of hours and who knows how that will go with the content, a tweak or three may just be on the way and that’s Ok in my book.

Everyone may just be checking in and out of the games as the week’s role on by, wondering how their team or favourite players are progressing. Should be interesting now that the hype is over and the games are underway. Can Bangladesh progress, will India struggle and who knows maybe England could do the honours?
